Job Summary

The Process Engineer Foam isResponsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the foam plant process. This includes all areas of the foam chemistry, foam distribution and process optimization, troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and tooling functions which directly affect quality, scrap, rework and downtime.

Job Duties:
• Understand the importance of critical process variables, including chemical stream mixing pressures, temperatures, tooling temperatures, seal-off and venting conditions, vacuum and internal mold pressures.
• Establish foam shot size, index, and flow rates to optimize foam physical characteristics, product quality, while maintaining efficiencies.
• Process optimization.
• Ability to develop robot pour program patterns for effective foam distribution.
• Monitor daily cup shots. Understand the foam reactivity profile of a given system which includes Cream Time, Gel Time, End of Rise, Top of Cup.
• Daily reporting. Scrap and issues.
• Involved with continuous improvement.
• Read shift reports and resolve any issues within reports.
• Coordinate with the Process Technician and Mold Technician the scheduling of work assignments.
• Ensure that employees work safely and that all workers work safely.
• Report on a daily basis to the Plant Manager.
• Understanding the basis of formulation changes (Index, Ratio), and how it correlates to I.F.D. (Indentation Force Deflection) results.
• Understanding of the basic function of a mixhead and how mix quality can be optimized through mixhead vernier adjustments, orifice sizing, pressures, and flow rate.
• Travel to intercompany plants in Canada, USA and Mexico to support new launches and current processes.

Please apply if you have the following:
• Technology Diploma or University Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• 3 to 5 years of professional experience in a medium volume manufacturing environment preferred
• Ability to attend and conduct presentations
• Ability to travel through Canada, USA, and Mexico
• Working between plant and office environment
• Understanding of manufacturing engineering concerning one or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, complex product assemblies, mechanisms, metal and plastic forming, injection molding technologies, tooling, fixtures and gauges

Pay: $75,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
