Job Title: Engineering Quality and Compliance Lead – Mission-Critical Ubuntu Location: Remote (EMEA or Americas time zones)About the Role

Canonical is looking for a leader to make Ubuntu ready for mission-critical industries like automotive, aerospace, and robotics—where high standards, compliance, and safety are essential.

This is a hands-on leadership role, not a policy-writing desk job. You’ll help transform complex regulatory demands into real engineering practices. You’ll guide teams, drive change, and build a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the company.

What You’ll Do

• Lead Canonical’s strategy for engineering quality in regulated industries

• Work closely with internal teams to implement certification-ready engineering standards

• Guide teams to align with global software quality standards (like ISO/IEC 25010 or ASPICE)

• Design clear processes, KPIs, and metrics to measure and improve software quality

• Collaborate with external standards bodies, partners, and committees

• Be a key part of Canonical’s industrial standards team, shaping Ubuntu’s future for mission-critical use

What We’re Looking For

• Strong background in engineering leadership and process improvement

• Experience working with software quality standards (like ASPICE or ISO/IEC 25010)

• Proven success in compliance or certification projects

• Comfortable working in an agile, open-source environment

• Understanding of Linux systems

• Passion for coaching and growing global, distributed teams

Nice to Have

• Experience as a software developer

• Knowledge of engineering KPIs and performance metrics

• Strategic thinking and strong problem-solving skills
