Specialist Ophthalmology

Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and patient-focused Ophthalmology Specialist to diagnose and treat a wide range of eye disorders and perform specialized ophthalmic procedures. Based in the UAE, the role involves delivering expert eye care while adhering to the highest clinical standards and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess vision and detect abnormalities
• Diagnose and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy
• Perform ophthalmic procedures and surgeries as per specialization
• Prescribe corrective lenses and medications as required
• Maintain accurate patient records and treatment plans in compliance with UAE healthcare regulations
• Counsel patients on eye health, preventive care, and post-operative recovery
• Use advanced diagnostic tools and imaging technologies
• Participate in case discussions, audits, and continuing medical education (CME)
• Ensure full compliance with MOHH clinical governance and licensing standards

Requirements

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) with specialization in Ophthalmology
• Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MS, MD, FRCS, MRCOphth, or equivalent)
• Valid UAE Ophthalmologist license
• Minimum 3–5 years of post-specialization clinical experience in ophthalmology
• Proficiency in diagnosing and treating both medical and surgical eye conditions
• Skilled in the use of modern ophthalmic instruments and EMR systems
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and continuous improvement
• Fluency in English required; Arabic is a plus
• UAE or GCC experience preferred
