Senior Test Engineer (AWS NODE TESTING – Sounds Web) – FTC [UK]

Role overview
We are looking for a Senior Test Engineer to join our team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of audience-facing features. Given the need for extensive cross-browser testing, you will be expected to validate the functionality and performance of web components across multiple browsers and devices. Your ability to conduct exploratory testing will be key in identifying edge cases and uncovering potential issues that automated tests may miss. The team follows Agile methodologies, so you will need to be comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative environment where you collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other testers to maintain a seamless user experience.
Strong expertise in TypeScript or JavaScript is essential for this role, as the site is written in these languages and hosted on AWS, our test automation framework is built using these technologies alongside Selenium WebDriver and Cucumber BDD. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving automated test scripts that integrate into our CI/CD pipeline, ensuring swift feedback on code changes. Experience with GitHub or similar version control systems will be valuable as you contribute to test repositories, manage branches, and participate in code reviews.
We are looking for someone who is highly independent and proactive, capable of taking ownership of testing efforts while also supporting and mentoring team members. Strong communication skills are essential. You should also be confident in documenting test plans, writing detailed reports, and suggesting process improvements to enhance overall testing efficiency.

You will:
• have extensive experience in Cross Browser Testing
• have expertise in TypeScript or JavaScript
• have proven automation experience using Selenium WebDriver
• have written BDD using Cucumber
• have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• be part of multiple teams, stakeholder communication, leadership experience
• be competent with use of Mac for software development
• be comfortable using GitHub
Desirable Skills:
• CI/CD experience
• Deployment experience
• Some exposure to AWS
• Have mentorship/coaching experience
• Playwright automation experience
• Agile/Scrum experience
• Ability to write high-quality documentation
Experience
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or similar work-based experience.
• Proven experience as a Senior Tester Engineer, ideally with a focus on media-related projects.
• Very good working knowledge of standard software development frameworks, techniques and methodologies.
• Experience with providing coaching and mentoring
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team, contributing to the development of business scenarios.
• Knowledge of software development tools and technologies.
• You are flexible and curious in your approach
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Additional information
Duration of the contract: until 31 March 2026 with the possibility of extension – contract FTC (full-time)
