Role Purpose

Key accountabilities

1. Support and develop the mental and physical health and wellbeing of children

in our care.
• Ensure all aspects of care are applied consistently in line with the Children’s

Home Regulations Quality Standards Attend LAC meetings and complete the necessary paperwork to support these.
• Apply effective methods to ensure the wellbeing of children including risk

assessment, core plans, learning about individual’s etc.
• Proactively address the mental wellbeing of the children through effective

stimulation, support, comfort, therapy, and consistency
• Work within the set boundaries for each child to ensure consistent approach.
• Understand and work within the individual health needs of each child – children

which may include but not exhausting.

o Eating and diet plans where appropriate.

o Administering the correct medication

o Attending medical /hospital appointments/health checks /dental /CAMHS
• Engage with and work partnership with multiple agencies to gain the right

support for each child.

2. Provide life skills and development activities the builds independence.

appreciation of equality, diversity, confidence, and children
• Work within the agree ‘independence plan’ for each child, tracking and

monitoring progression.
• Assist the children to set aims and goals and support them in achievement

Of these.
• Develop and support children in developing key skills from basic hygiene,

daily chores, shopping, and economic management /savings/pocket monies

(whichever are most appropriate)
• Encourage and coach the children to make the right choices, take

responsibility for their actions and behaviours.
• Ensure consistent consequences are applied to children based on actions

and behaviours.
• Ensure that the children have good appreciation of equality and diversity by

showing respect for others and taking time to understanding wishes, feeling

and cultural differences.
• Support and enable the children to access the community (where applicable)

In positive and responsible manner.

3. Enable and support children to engage with education system positively.
• Support and encourage school attendance.
• Undertake the necessary transport arrangement to ensure the children

commute safely to school.
• Update and complete homework / school diaries.
• Help and support children in the completion of homework.
• Attend school meetings, events, and trips.
• Identifying activities that support education development that will benefit the

child/children.
• Research plan and support education development activities and resources.
• Promote positive behaviours and actions and support this through

appropriate reward systems and sanctions.
• Support and coach children in creating CV and preparing for interviews.
• Work within the agreed semi-independence packages.

4. Understand what section of care the children are always under and work

within this.
• Participate in multi-agency meetings to gather and share information to get

the right out-coms and best support for the children.
• Identify and escalate wen social workers need involvement with the

child/children.
• Facilitate and support family time and relationships where applicable.
• Organise transport and supervise visits.
• Ensure confidentiality is not breached at any time, understanding what can

and can’t be shared.

5. Conduct administration and domestic duties for the home to run effectively

and compliantly.
• Conduct necessary domestic duties and low level of maintenance work and

gardening (light bulbs /decorating) within the home environment.
• Accurately completed all the necessary paperwork inclusive but is not

exhaustive to:

o Daily running records and observations

o Contact notes.

o Logbook/ Handover

o Monthly progression plans

o Medical treatment forms/medical books

o Body Maps

o Post contact sheets.

o Incident reports

o Personal needs sheets / Finances

o Concern sheets

o Physical Intervention log

o Sanctions / rewards log

o Health and safety and buildings checks

o Meal/activities/residence meetings logs

o Shift planner

o Personal / key worker reviews

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £13.00-£15.50 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 40 per week

Education:
• Certificate of Higher Education (preferred)

Experience:
• Residential Childcare: 2 years (required)
• Support Environment: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:
• QCF LEVEL 3 CAREING FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE (required)
