Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable, and ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes. This role is crucial for supporting our community centre’s financial health and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Duties
• Maintain and update financial records using accounting software such as Xero.
• Process accounts payable and ensure timely payments to suppliers.
• Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow effectively.
• Process all payments including online banking, credit card, PayPal and POS machine, and reconcile to the bank accounts.
• Monitor all income streams including from funding bodies, donors, tenants and room bookings.
• Prepare information for all HC employee monthly payroll and pensions, liaising with payroll and pension company to ensure employees are paid in line with contractual agreements.
• Assist with preparation of financial reports and summaries for management review.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
• Collaborate with centre staff to provide financial insights and support decision-making processes.
• In liaison with relevant staff, actively control the Centre’s expenditure to ensure value for money is achieved wherever possible

Experience
• Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar role is essential.
• Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage, is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and financial reporting.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills are a must.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £13,900.00 per year

Expected hours: No more than 16 per week
