Sales Manager (On Contract)

Reports To – Director of Sales & Marketing

Position Summary: The Sales Manager is responsible for acquiring and maintaining a solid base of customers and for attaining a high level of profitability for the property. The Sales Manager actively seeks high-revenue accounts and works to maintain a high volume of clientele. The Sales Manager provides all operation areas with up-to-date information about promotions and specific accounts. They research, follow up on, and convert sales leads to achieve revenue and average room rate as outlined in the hotel budget and contribute to an innovative but cost-effective sales & marketing plan.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Proactively solicit potential new account opportunities through telephone solicitation, at times networking through organizations, conducting internet research/prospecting campaigns, attending trade shows and/or client events when applicable; and participating in concentrated sales efforts in Corporate and Government market segments to include room blocks as well as event space.
• Build and maintain rapport with customers throughout the sales process to close the sale, and ensure requests are documented and approved by the client.
• Process all leads and respond to customer inquiries in a timely manner.
• Maintains a positive image for the hotel while participating in networking with organizations and prospecting new business for rooms and events.
• Prepare a written sales call report on all outside and telemarketing calls made each week and ensure that client contact information is updated regularly.
• Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in training employees on upselling techniques.
• Ensure follow-up with all corporate decision-makers, travel agencies, and Government organizations to solicit future business as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
• Participate in staff meetings and report on sales activity of the prior and upcoming weeks.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Management.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Able to work as a team player.
• Highly organized and time efficient.
• Related experience with Hotel Sales operations an asset.
• High proficiency in operation of computers, experience using the Opera reservation system an asset.
• Professional in appearance and demeanor.
• Bilingualism is an asset, English is required.
