The Night Shift Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing the accounting activities during overnight shifts. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and financial regulations. The role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and efficiently under minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Recordkeeping
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in the company’s accounting system.
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts to maintain accurate ledgers

Invoice Processing and Payments
• Process incoming invoices and ensure they are entered accurately into the system.
• Verify payments to suppliers and ensure all documentation is correctly filed and matched.

Bank Reconciliation
• Reconcile bank statements with internal accounting records, ensuring that discrepancies are promptly addressed.

Financial Reporting
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports for management review.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.

Compliance and Auditing
• Ensure all accounting activities comply with relevant financial regulations and company policies.
• Assist with internal and external audits as required.

Assist with Budgeting and Forecasting
• Support in preparing financial forecasts and budgeting by providing accurate financial data.
• Assist in variance analysis and reporting.

Communication and Collaboration
• Collaborate with day shift team members to ensure smooth transition of financial information.
• Respond to queries from management, clients, or suppliers regarding financial records.

Maintain Confidentiality
• Safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of financial records and sensitive company information.

Requirements:

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Experience:
• Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar role.
• Previous experience working night shifts or in a late-hour setting is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Proficient in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
