Position Overview: The VP – Construction will oversee all construction activities related to the island development project. This role requires a strategic leader who can manage complex construction operations, ensure adherence to timelines and budgets, and implement safety and quality standards. He must have the expertise in managing all aspects of project execution, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, including planning, design, engineering, and construction, to achieve project objectives.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Planning and Management:Develop and execute comprehensive construction plans for the island development project.Coordinate with the project management team to align construction activities with project goals and milestones.Manage and oversee all phases of construction, including planning, execution, and completion.Project Leadership and Management:Lead the execution of island development projects, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and budgets.Develop and manage project plans, including scope, schedule, and resources.Coordinate with stakeholders to define project requirements and deliverables.Budget and Resource Management:Prepare and manage the construction budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.Allocate resources effectively and efficiently, including manpower, equipment, and materials.Monitor expenses and financial performance, providing regular updates to senior management.Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking, and reporting.Ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to financial constraintsRisk Management:Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during project execution.Safety and Compliance:Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international construction regulations and standards.Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.Quality Control:Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure all construction work meets the required standards and specifications.Address and resolve any issues related to construction quality and performance.Reporting and Documentation:Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation.Stakeholder Management:Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration of all project components.Maintain effective communication with local authorities, environmental agencies, and other relevant parties.Sustainability and Innovation:Integrate sustainable practices and innovative technologies into construction processes.Advocate for environmentally friendly practices and materials in line with the project’s sustainability goals.Team Leadership:Lead and manage a team of construction managers, site supervisors, and other construction professionals.Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, ensuring clear communication and teamwork.Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations for construction team.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, RICS) is a plus.Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing large-scale or complex projects. Experience in island or remote location development is highly desirable.Skills:Strong leadership and team management abilities.Excellent project management and organizational skills.In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and best practices.Proficiency in construction management software and tools.Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.Ability to adapt to changing conditions and manage multiple priorities effectively.
