Judy’s Café Experienced Barista Position

About us: As a nonprofit, our goal at Judy’s Café is to serve great coffee and provide job training and meaningful employment to young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We aim to be a neighbourhood hub in the Beach where customers delight in great beverages, wholesome food and a welcoming community.
Job Summary: This position is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting individuals with special needs and a desire to create a happy and inclusive working environment with an emphasis on exceptional customer service. Judy’s is a small café, open 8am-5pm, 7 days a week. We are looking for a Barista experienced in serving great espresso coffees who will also provide encouragement for our trainees with challenges. Opportunity to move into an assistant manager role.
Key Responsibilities:
– Serving customers, open/close duties, inventory.
– Coach and support staff with special needs (one or two per shift).
– Ensure health and safety compliance and cleanliness standards are met.
– Foster a warm, welcoming environment for customers and staff.
Qualifications:
– Barista experience and knowledge about the workings of espresso equipment.
– CPR/First Aid, Food Handler and Smart Serve Certifications (or willingness to obtain).
– Passion for inclusive employment and community building.
– Experience working with or supporting individuals with special needs an asset.
– Strong communication skills, warm, friendly demeanor and an abundance of patience!
Salary range: $19 – $22/hr.
