Application Support Engineer

We’re looking for a technically curious Application Support Engineer to join the Unified Platform Support team at a leading proprietary trading firm. You’ll work closely with developers to support complex, high-performance systems used for market data processing, regulatory reporting, and compliance analytics. This is a hands-on role that gives you the freedom to dig into issues – sometimes right down to the code.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and operate production systems supporting regulatory reporting and surveillance functionsInvestigate and resolve data-related alerts and system issues, including code-level debugging when necessaryCollaborate with developers to troubleshoot complex issues and drive long-term improvementsProvide L1/L2 support to users across the firm (typically 2-10 issues per day), escalating to L3 when requiredAssist in onboarding new teams and applications to the platform support modelContinuously refine monitoring processes and documentation as the platform evolvesWhat We’re Looking ForExperience supporting and troubleshooting high-performance applications in a financial services environmentStrong Linux skills and comfort working in command-line environmentsUnderstanding of market data and/or order data systems, including protocols like FIX or exchange-native formatsStrong analytical and problem-solving mindsetAbility to navigate or debug object-oriented code (Java and Python preferred)Familiarity with version control tools (Git or SVN)SQL proficiency – from writing queries to basic database operationsExposure to cloud infrastructure, ideally AWSBonus: Experience with streaming/data tools such as Kafka, Spark, or Delta LakeTechnology Stack & EnvironmentYou’ll be working with:AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, ArgoJava 17, Python 3, HDF5Distributed systems processing large volumes of market and order dataA globally distributed team covering Europe and North AmericaWhy Join This Team?Work closely with developers and gain exposure to complex systems architectureBe empowered to investigate issues deeply and shape solutionsJoin a respectful, collaborative culture that values outcomes over processUse the right tools for the job – and keep learning as the tech evolves
