Description

The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher at Hamilton/SOTA I Elementary School beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. Projected Start Date: August 12, 2025

Wisconsin certification 1801 and/or 1810, 1811, or 1830 is required. Multiple certifications are preferred.

Prefer Applicants Possessing The Following Qualifications

▪ Experience with autism and EBD programming is preferred.

▪ Special concentration in Learning Disabilities and/or Emotional Behavioral Disabilities.

▪ Experience and demonstrated skills in assessing, instructing, and programming for LD and EBD students.

▪ Experience working with a team of regular and special educators to meet student needs.

▪ Experience with developing behavior intervention plans.

▪ Demonstrated skills in the use of assistive and adaptive technology to support student independence.

▪ Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR and First Aid.

▪ Ability to work as part of the IEP team to appropriately place students and monitor their progress.

Position Responsibilities

▪ Instruction of students with learning disabilities and emotional behavioral disabilities including team teaching.

▪ Management of all aspects of student program including functional behavior assessment, behavior plans, academic assessments, writing and implementing integrated IEP’s, effectively consulting with staff and parents.

▪ Successful completion of a mandatory Job Specific Screen is required before employment.
